The Yggdrasil Realm Seeds are introduced in God of War Ragnarök as the only means to unlock access to new Mystic Gateways throughout the Nine Realms. They effectively replace the Bifröst, which was previously used to travel through Týr's Temple.

- While the Realm Seeds unlock new Gateways across the realms, Kratos (and Atreus) still use their Keys of Yggdrasil to open and traverse the paths through the realms. The Seeds just unlock the realm doors though their realm symbols on them.
- Muspelheim has two realm seeds despite only one (being pieced together through optional objectives to access the Crucible) being needed to access the fiery home of Surtr, granted this could be a small oversight and the seed given to Kratos before the final battle was meant to unlock to Asgard.
