The Hateful's purple eyes in God of War: Ragnarök symbolize the power of souls. This is a recurring theme in the God of War series, where purple is linked with soul energy and the abilities of Hades' champions. The same color is seen in Heimdall's eyes, signifying his mind-reading capabilities and control of Bifröst. What strategies can be used to defeat The Hateful in God of War: Ragnarök? toggle section
In God of War: Ragnarök, defeating The Hateful requires a defensive strategy. Only attack when opportunities present themselves and evade close-range attacks. The Blade of the Gods' techniques are less effective and slow, so it's better to engage in sword clashes with The Hateful. Use Medusa's Gaze to petrify enemies and then destroy them with the Blade of Olympus. When fighting beasts, stun them repeatedly before delivering the final blow. Be wary of Draugr that can spawn from Draugr holes.

Codex[]

God of War Ragnarök[]

I have never encountered a Draugr like this one before. It fights as if fueled by an infinite hate. It emerged from a scar in the earth that closed once we defeated the monster. If we encounter more of these holes, we must close them and put down any creatures that emerge.

Mimir has identified her as a former Empress, called Hertha. I do not care who she ruled over, I will put her back in the ground.

Valhalla[]

Valhalla chose to pull from my mind the most memorable Draugr we ever faced in battle-a former empress named "Hertha" who undeniably earned her title of "The Hateful". Once again, she moved with a ferocity that was relentless and powerful. It is a reminder of how I miss your presence not only as my son, but as a reliable ally in combat.

History[]

Hertha was once a former empress who died at an unknown point in time. She was known for her hatred of the gods and her crusade against them. Due to being fueled by unending hatred, she defied her own death and was transformed and twisted into a Draugr, in which she would viciously and wildly attack anyone that encounters her.

God of War Ragnarök[]

This time, Hertha along with rageful Draugrs are now capable of spawning through Draugr holes, burning fissures that can be found in various realms. Kratos came across her several times on different occasions but was eventually able to put her down for good.

Defeating the Hateful for the first time earns the Cursed Empress Handles.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Hateful's abilities are the same as the Dual-Wielding Draugr but more powerful and equipped with a weapon in each hand. The Hateful can chain together a flurry of attacks quickly, leaving little room to react. Being more offensively minded, look to parry their attacks instead of rapidly dodging them.
