I brought something else to keep things interesting. You're not the only one with weapons from far-off lands, you know.

–Tyr about to fight Kratos in Valhalla DLC

Týr's Macuahuitl is a club weapon of Mayan origin. In Mesoamerica, macuahuitls were used by Mayan Warriors and are known to have sharp blades made from obsidian. The weapon was introduced in God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla.

In God of War series[]

At some point in the past, Týr obtained his Macuahuitl during his many trips to other Worlds, it is likely that the Mayans gave Týr this weapon as a gift.

In Valhalla, he would use this weapon in action for the first time in his second encounter with Kratos.

Description[]

The Macuahuitl is a Mayan wooden club about 1.2 meters long, made of double-edged mahogany with obsidian or flint flakes approximately 60-90 cm long. While traditionally used as a cutting weapon, Týr's macuahuitl is instead used as a bludgeon, with its blades being unusually thick and blunt.

The Macuahuitl of Týr has the peculiarity of shining yellow-gold and has a Tiwaz rune (ᛏ) on it.
