Atreus: Look at that. It's Thor...
Kratos: Thor... God of Thunder...
Atreus: That's right! I never thought you listened when mother spoke of the gods.
Kratos: I seldom did.

–Atreus and Kratos when seeing the Statue of Thor

The Statues of Thor are statues made for the Aesir God of Thunder, Thor honored by his father, Odin.

The first statue from the Lake was eaten by the World Serpent due to his absolute hatred towards Thor, which Mimir called the God of Thunder the fat dobber and Jörmungandr getting sick of looking at Thor's Statue. But it contained Mimir's other eye.

Under the quest of a vengeful spirit, who, like the Serpent, had a strong hatred for the God of Thunder, the other statue of Thor was destroyed by Kratos.

History[]

Odin, wanting to hide Mimir's eye in a place where no one could find it, finds the Huldra Brothers Brok and Sindri and asks them to construct a big statue of Thor with a secret compartment. The two of them declined however, thus prompting Odin to find other Dwarves to do it for him. Once it was complete, Odin proceeded to hide Mimir's Bifröst eye in the hidden compartment, which is in the hammer of the statue. Originally, it was supposed to be based on Thor's real appearance, however, when the God of Thunder saw the statue, he disapproved of it and killed the original creators, soon finding a new sculptor to give it preferable revisions. The result was statue depicting a more physically fit, cleaner-cut version of the Thunder God, very much unlike his actual appearance.. For years, whenever the World Serpent would look at the statue, his hatred for Thor would boil.

Eventually, that hatred soon got the best of him; after Jörmungandr was awakened by Mimir, he gave the statue of Thor a look of hate before he proceeded to eat half of it, leaving only the legs. Later, when Kratos and Atreus were looking for Mimir's other eye, they think that the eye is hidden inside the statue. Traveling into the World's Serpent's stomach, the duo was able to find the statue of Thor and the hidden compartment open, which revealed a chest, which holds Mimir's eye.

Statue in Veithurgard[]

Statue of Thor (Veithurgard)

Another statue of Thor, but a smaller one was built after a disciple of Thor had died. After the death of her husband, the disciple's wife made the statue so that it could watch over his grave at the lake in Veithurgard. After the wife was murdered by drunken Thor, her son was left with grief, which eventually turned into rage and hatred. Even after his death, he cannot move on, since the statue his mother had built had become his bond to Midgard. When Kratos and Atreus came across his spirit, he requested that they destroy the statue and gave them his blessing to loot his father's grave. Once they accomplished this objective, the spirit's bond to Midgard was severed and he proceeded to thank the duo before moving on with his quest for vengeance.
