Staróflr the Troublesome is one of the twelve Berserkers that can be fought as an optional boss in God of War Ragnarök. Staróflr along with Bödvar the Fierce can be found in Svartalfheim in the region between the Jarnsmida Pitmines and Applecore.
Norse Tradition[]
In Hrólfr Kraki's saga, Starólfr was one of the twelve berserkers who served King Hrólf Kraki.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Staróflr was a warrior in the Midgardian kingdom of Lejre who served under Hrólf Kraki, along with eleven fellow berserkers. She participated in Hrólf's seizure of the crown where she earned the epithet "the Troublesome". Upon her death, Staróflr's spirit went onto inhabit the Hilt of Skofnung.
God of War Ragnarok[]
Kratos defeated Staróflr's spirit along with her lover Bödvar the Fierce and channeled their powers through Skofnung.
Description[]
"We fought Starólfr alongside Bödvar the Fierce in Svartalfheim. Shortly after, Mimir spoke bitterly of her notoriety in subterfuge. By cover of night, she would kill the families of powerful enemies rather the rulers or generals. This incited swift surrender from some, and brutal retaliation from others. Either outcome was enjoyable to her."

Trivia[]
- "Starólfr" is thought to be derived from the name Stórólfr, derived from the Old Norse stórr ("big, tall, large") and úlfr ("wolf"), ultimately translated as "Big Wolf" or "Tall Wolf". This is a very fitting name for a Berserker, especially if he was an ulfheðinn ("wolf-skin/coat"), a type of Berserker who wore wolf pelts and channeled wolf spirits into his body to aid him in combat.
