The spiked columns are a set of two spinning towers with blades attached to them, they are seen in the Underworld during the first game and must be climbed in order for Kratos to escape Hades.

The spiked columns appear in Hades and must be traversed in order for Kratos to escape the Underworld via the hole dug by the Grave Digger. If Kratos is hit by one of the spinning blades, he will fall to the ground and thus have to climb the columns again. They have been consistently hated by fans and ranked as one of the most frustrating puzzles in the entire series for many years. Even the original creator of God of War, David Jaffe, explained that there was not enough time to playtest the Hades level during development before release, which is why it was so annoying.

- The gold trophy 'You Got The Touch' is earned if Kratos climbs one of columns without getting hit.
