Smouldering Embers are a resource exclusive to Muspelheim, found in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök.
In God of War (2018)[]
Smouldering Embers are the most common resource Kratos can collect in Muspelheim, most often as a reward for completing any of the Muspelheim Trials. After collection, they can be used to craft and upgrade the following equipment:

Like before, Kratos can collect Smouldering Embers from completing combat challenges at the Muspelheim Crucible. While they aren't as plentiful as they were before, they don't need to be, as only a few are ever needed to upgrade each chest armor piece from Level 8 to Level 9.
