| “ | And so he went to Rhodes to deliver the final blow to the besieged city. | ” |

Rhodes was the great harbor city of ancient Greece and the site of the legendary Colossus of Rhodes.
In God of War II, Rhodes is invaded by the Spartans led by the will of Kratos, then he joins the battle but an eagle attacks him with lightning and also causes The Colossus of Rhodes to come to life, causing Kratos to fight against the statue. It was the last remaining city-state in Greece, all others being already destroyed and ruined by the Spartan conquest in the name of their Lord Kratos.
Eventually, Zeus helps Kratos by giving him the Blade of Olympus, but this was nothing more than Zeus' plan to betray and kill him.
In God of War II[]
In God of War II, as the new God of War, Kratos goes to Rhodes, which is under siege by his fellow Spartans, to deliver the final blow to the city. There, he battles the Rhodes Soldiers and ultimately the Colossus of Rhodes itself, which is animated by Kratos' divine powers. The grueling battle between Kratos and the reanimated statue proved difficult and destructive, while the Spartan army faced increasing resistence and lost ground to the defending army. Zeus intervenes from high above and offers Kratos the Blade of Olympus, to slay the Colossus and prove himself once and for all before the eyes of Olympus.
After accepting Zeus' offer, Kratos was able to swiftly defeat the Colossus, however the price for wielding the supreme blade was the surrender of his divinity and power into it. Kratos, now mortal again is gravely wounded by the Colossus' hand, loosing the Blade holding his godhood as he boasts to the Heavens about his victory. Zeus reveals himself to be the eagle who stole Kratos power in the first place and offers the Ghost of Sparta a chance to repent and pledge himself to eternal servitude to his King, which Kratos spitefully rejects, causing Zeus to attack and impale him with the Blade of Olympus.
Zeus offers Kratos a last chance to stop this, which the Spartan again denies, offending the Skyfather with his defiance. The Lord of Lightning proclaims that everything the Spartan has ever known will now suffer because of his sacrilege, before he draws closer and tells his son that he will never be the ruler of Olympus and that the Cycle ends here. The Battle of Rhodes becomes the start of Kratos' journey to the Island of Creation and his ultimate war against the Gods, as he would be rescued by Gaia, an ancient enemy of Zeus who would guide him to the Sisters of Fate. The Ghost of Sparta would later return to the time of Zeus' betrayal with the power of the Loom of Fate and engage the King of the Gods in a battle to the death on top of the Summit of Sacrifice.
God of War III[]
It is presumed that Rhodes was wiped out by the flood caused by Poseidon's death in God of War III.
