Kratos stands in front of the Portal

Upon the highest cliff of Suicide Bluffs is large, ornate bronze shrine, with a statue of Athena beside it. The shrine can be only be opened by a god, revealing a passage to Olympus itself. When Kratos fell from the Sun Chariot, two Gods can be seen emerging from, and going back into, the portal itself. After Kratos' futile attempt to commit suicide, Athena then tells him that he is the new God of War. She opens the portal, and tells him to ascend its steps and take his place with the Gods.
