Kratos drops the urn into the lava
Mythology[]
In mythology, it is said that after the Phoenix dies, it burns in fire and it's reborn from its own ashes. These remains are known as the Phoenix's ashes.
In God of War II[]
In God of War II, in the depths of the Palace of the Fates, Kratos finds these ashes in a large decorative urn. He must take them, and drop them into the lava of the Phoenix Chamber to awaken the Phoenix. After doing so, the creature flies up from the flames and perches outside.
