History
Throughout history, the battering ram was a common siege weapon. It is mainly used for breaking down enemy gates/doorways.
In God of War: Chains of Olympus
In God of War: Chains of Olympus, while running through a small battlefield outside of the walls of Attica, Kratos watches a group of Persian Warriors operating a battering ram when they are suddenly killed by an Ballista shot. Kratos then uses the ram itself the break down a doorway into the city.
