Pandora's Guardian, encountered in God of War, was a 20 foot tall, Undead Minotaur who wore nearly impenetrable armor. Located in the segment of Pandora's Temple that was dedicated to Hades, it protected the tomb of the Architect's Son. Judging by the fact that a cannon-like machine was present in the Guardian's Chamber, its presence was apparently to serve as a final test to anyone who had made it that far through the temple in an attempt to claim Pandora's Box.

The Guardian would not have anyone behind it, and would jump to the back of the chamber if Kratos made the attempt. Due to his armor, only incredible amounts of damage could wear the Minotaur down enough to do damage to it. After he removed its torso armor and helmet, and then fired the Ballista at it, Kratos killed it by impaling it to a door. In its death throes, the Minotaur's hoof smashed open a small part of a sealed door, about two meters tall, which then allowed Kratos to proceed through.

At the end of the game, after Kratos became the new God of War and was given a throne room on Mount Olympus, the remains could be found inside, as it corpse served like a statue.

Pandora's Guardian proved to be quite a challenge to Kratos, as it changed styles of combating during the battle. Partly due to its enormous size, Pandora's Guardian had extraordinary strength. Using mostly smashing and swiping attacks with its huge gauntlets, it could also grab and slam Kratos to the ground. Born in the depths of the Underworld, and was servant to Hades, the Minotaur also engulfed Kratos in a wave of molten lava. Pandora's Guardian also had a tremendous charge attack, in which he slammed his body into the ledge that Kratos stood on, which caused lava to spurt from below and showered the Spartan in volcanic downpour. However, that strategy was usually only used when Kratos had knocked away a section of his armor.

Once Pandora's Guardian was stripped of his armor, he gained considerable speed, and gained an unblockable charging attack that could deal huge amounts of damage if it was not dodged.

• As soon as the Guardian died, he began to rot.
• Pandora's Guardian was usually considered the original Minotaur of Crete. However, the original Minotaur was locked in a Labyrinth and was not involved with Pandora's Box. It's possible that it may have become the Guardian of Pandora's Box after its death at the hand of Theseus.
• Ironically, the Guardian and Kratos met their demise the exact same way: both were killed by a high-speed projectile, and both were pinned to the wall behind them upon being hit. They were also both killed in Pandora's Temple by a son of Zeus.
