History[]

God of War 20180812130340

According to Mimir, Ormrs were born from an ember that escaped Surtr's hammer as he worked his forge. The steward of Muspelheim used his bellows to breathe life into the ember, and its first act of existence was to steal and consume the precious metals the smith had been using to forge a weapon.

God of War (2018)[]

In God of War (2018), only one Ormr is encountered in the Heart of the Mountain sub-location in Midgard.

God of War: Ragnarök[]

In God of War: Ragnarök, Ormar appear much more frequently throughout most of the Realms, starting in Svartalfheim.

Similar to the Tatzelwurm, the Ormr will dig into the ground if approached, but will not attack Kratos or Atreus. They can be killed by striking them from behind or from just outside their field of vision using the Leviathan Axe, Draupnir Spear, or Atreus or Freya' arrows. Upon defeat, they drop various resources such as Health and Ragestones, Enchantments, Crafting Resources, and other upgrade materials.

Codex entry[]

A mysterious creature. Mimir tells me it was born from an ember that escaped Surtr's hammer as he worked his forge. The steward of Muspelheim used his bellows to breathe life into the ember, and its first act of existence was to steal and consume the precious metals the smith had been using to forge a weapon. Mimir tried to tell me Surtr found this amusing. Were I Surtr, I would not be amused.

Trivia[]

    • As such, fans would begin to refer to them as "Loot Lizards", and the nickname persisted even after their real name was revealed in God of War: Ragnarök.
  • In God of War: Ragnarök, the appearance of Ormr's sketches in the Codex are oddly that of the Tatzelwurm.
