Greek Mythology
In Greek myth, the legendary Gorgon Medusa had the power to turn anyone who looked directly into her eyes to stone.
In God of War
Medusa's Gaze is a power given to Kratos in God of War. After killing Medusa for Aphrodite, Kratos keeps Medusa's head and uses it's Gorgon powers to turn his enemies into stone. Although this power doesn't work on other gorgons, all other enemies are turned into stone. Larger enemies take longer to turn into stone than smaller ones. Gorgons are not concerning for the laser, they doesn't became stone. Leveling the magic up further increases it's freezing power, and to gain faster attacks with it. At the beginning of God of War II however, this Magic Ability is lost (possibly to the Blade of Olympus and is replaced by the Head of Euryale, taken from one of the two remaining Gorgon Sisters.

- If is leveled at maximum the gaze will have a blue-green color.
- If you look closely the head is green but Medusa herself has red skin.
- In God Of War Betrayal, The Medusa's Gaze can be charged up to level 5.
- For some unknown reason, Medusa's Gaze is absent from Kratos' inventory in God of War II.
