Logi is a Jötunn deity who is the embodiment of fire. He is the brother of Ægir, the brother-in-law of Rán and the uncle of the latter two's nine daughters.

Norse Mythology[]

Logi (Old Norse: 'fire, flame'), also known as Hálogi ('High Flame') is a Jötunn and Norse God/spirit who is the personification of fire. The son of the Jötunn Fornjótr, he is the brother of Ægir or Hlér and Kári, the personification of wind. Logi was married to the giantess Glöð and bore two daughters Eisa & Eimyrja.

In Gylfaginning, Logi appears in the tale of Thor, Þjálfi and Loki's journey to Utgard, the castle of Útgarða-Loki. Logi was pitted against Loki in an eating contest, as Loki claims himself to eat faster than anyone. The contest permits the two to consume a wooden trencher filled with meat. While Logi and Loki are equally matched with eating meat from the bone, Logi consumed the bones and even the trencher itself. As a result, Loki ultimately lost to Logi, though Útgarða-Lokiwas impressed with Loki's feat.

Later, as Thor, Loki and Þjálfi were about to leave Utgard, Útgarða-Loki reveals to the trio that Logi is actually wildfire itself, which explains on why Logi is able to consume the bones and the trencher in the first place.

In the God of War series[]

Logi was not seen nor even mentioned throughout. However, there is an enchantment named after him called Logi's Fiery Shard, which gives increased damage to the Nemean Crush Runic Attack.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Immortality: as a Norse God, Ægir is immortal. Only a sufficiently powerful weapon or an extremely powerful being can kill him.
  • Pyrokinesis: Being the personification of Fire, Logi could have great control over the fire
