God of War Wiki

Konùnsgard is one of the many regions located in Midgard and is one of the two lands, the other being Veithurgard, that were formerly ruled over by Mótsognir, the dwarven king. Unlike Veithurgard, which can be accessed at any time throughout God of War (2018), Konùnsgard can only be accessible during the Hail to the King favor, in which Kratos needs to get an entry stone from Brok and Sindri.

History[]

According to Mimir, the region of Konùnsgard was a beautiful land while it was at its peak that is until King Mòtsognir became obsessed with the Dvegræðikr, a dwarven armor of legend. He had a great stronghold constructed in the region, which took many winters. At some point, the dragon Reginn was captured and appointed as the region's head sentry, however, the maintaining of the dragon shrines that kept Reginn bounded proved to be extremely dangerous as the dragon would unleash his lightning breath as a way of passing time.

When construction on his stronghold is finally complete, Mòtsognir invited all living in Konùnsgard to come to the stronghold to attend the grand ceremony. There in the throne room, Mòtsognir possibly had them all killed so that he could harvest their screams, as it is an ingredient that is required to create the Dvegræðikr. Consequently, this ended up costing the dwarven king his own life as the very same people he had killed returned as Hel-Walkers, in which they gravely wounded him out of vengeance.

In a secret passageway behind his throne, Mòtsognir succumbed to his wounds but not before realizing that his own sacrifice is the final ingredient needed to make the legendary dwarven armor he is so obsessed with.
