Jarnsmida Pitmines is one of the later regions you can visit in Svartalfheim. It's unique in that while you visit it very early in the game, you cannot freely explore it until much later. Further, it has to be revisited by going back through The Applecore mine, since it doesn't have any Mystic Gateways you can use when you pass through the first time. Like most areas of Svartalfheim, the Jarnsmida Pitmines are occupied by Grim and Wretches. There is a Troll, however Kratos makes short work of it in the cutscene, so you don't have to fight it yourself.

Jarnsmida Pitmines - Odin’s Raven 1[]
The only Raven in Jarnsmida Pitmines is found in the opening area where you first arrived on the crashed train car, and very close to a Mystic Gateway covered in fungi. The Raven will be flying over the lake in the middle of the mine: look for a gold chain you can slide down on the North side of the lake.
Things Left Behind 4 - Lofnheid’s Whetstone[]
The only Artifact in Jarnsmida Pitmines is found in the opening area where you first arrived on the crashed minecart. It'll be at the spot we described above where you can kill one of Odin's Ravens, next to a Mystic Gateway covered in Red Fungi Bramble.
Jarnsmida Pitmines - Nornir Chest 1[]
- Type: Torch
The Nornir Chest in the Jarnsmida Pitmines is found very easily early in the area: after crawling through a tunnel, you'll emerge, drop down two ledges, then turn right and freeze a water trough so you can use a grapple point to cross a gap. The Nornir Chest will be directly ahead. The R Rune is found just left of the Nornir Chest. To find the C Rune, drop down the ledge to the left of the Nornir Chest and head around the corner: the torch will be on top of a rock formation, near a Coffin. However, to get to the N Rune you'll have to unfreeze the water trough, which will douse the C Rune's torch. So if you haven't gotten the N Rune yet, then on your way back you'll have to refreeze the trough, then relight the C Rune's torch. For the N Rune, look left of the C Rune's location to see a gap you can grapple across. If it's blocked by a large wooden container, recall the Leviathan Axe to raise it, allowing you to cross (although this will douse the fire of the C Rune's torch). The N Rune will be in front of you after you get across.
Jarnsmida Pitmines - Lore 1 - The Pit-Mine[]

This piece of Lore is found in the same spot as the Nornir Chest early in the area. Specifically, it's where the N Rune's torch is described above: after grappling across the gap, head left and you'll see it carved into the dirt wall.
Jarnsmida Pitmines - Legendary Chest 1[]
- Contains: Blades Attachment - Pommels of the Undying Spark
This Legendary Chest is found towards the end of the Jarnsmida Pitmines area, in the battle area where Sindri gives Kratos and Atreus new sources of light, just after Kratos shifts a cart to the side. To start, stand where the cart is and face forwards into the cave: here, make a wide U-turn to your right. Here you should spot a pillar holding up the water trough with gold segments: use the Blades of Chaos to turn the end of the trough, which will cause a giant crate holding a stone block to move towards you. While it's doing this, use the explosive pot to your left to destroy the gold rocks, letting you leap up to the crane's stone block once it's in position. Once you're on top of the stone block, throw the Leviathan Axe into the end of the trough: this blocks the water flow, making the crane move you to its original starting position. When the stone block has finally stopped moving, you can have Kratos hang off the side of the stone black and then leap over to a new area. From there, follow the mine cart tracks uphill: the Legendary Chest will be at the top on your right, close to an Artifact. The chest contains the Pommels of the Undying Spark, which has +6 Strength, +3 Runic, and has Scorching Burn, which increases the damage the Burn status inflicts.

This Artifact is found towards the end of the Jarnsmida Pitmines area. Specifically, it's in the same spot where you get the Legendary Chest described above, just to the left of it in fact.
Berserker Gravestone - Starolfr & Bodvar[]
- Prerequisite: Complete the Forging Destiny main quest
This Berserker Gravestone can be passed by very early into the game, however you won't attain the means to activate it until a good while later, where you pick up the Inert Hilt of Skofnung during The Word of Fate main quest. In addition to that, returning to the Jarnsmida Pitmines by that point requires returning to the Aurvangar Wetlands, taking the ferry to Sverd Sands, then backtracking through The Applecore until you exit back out to the Jarnsmida Pitmines. The Gravestone will be in the very first clearing once you do so.
