“ | Angrboda has a yak named Jalla. It was funny—she said "I want you to meet someone" and I thought for a moment there might be more giants, but she meant Jalla. I get the sense Jalla might be her best friend which maybe sounds sad I guess, but I think its kind of amazing. Makes me miss Fenrir, though I also still feel like he's with me somehow. I wish she could have met him. It must be lonely living here, but I know how much it helps having a connection to animals. | ” |
–Atreus' description of Jalla |
Jalla is a yak that accompanies the giantess Angrboda that she rides when she does her daily routine of feeding the soulless animals her grandmother Grýla created in Ironwood. It is very clear and apparent, Angrboda is great friends with all of her animal friends she cares for, but Jalla is rather special to her. You can tell there is a great bond even on Jalla's part by the way we get to see them briefly interact in specific scenes.
Appearance[]
Jalla's fur is a light brownish-gold color, and is thick/shaggy. A saddle and various straps and pouches are visible, attached to the Jalla's back. The saddle and pouches are a muted, rich blue-grey color with darker accents. Some decorative/woven patterns are visible on the straps. There are various pouches and bags on the saddle as well. Small, intricately detailed metal hardware and straps are visible throughout the saddle and pack. Tangible details such as rope, fabrics, and metal attachments are also modeled on the saddle. Jalla's horns are a pale yellowish-gold color, with visible blue patterns on them. Additionally, a light, almost beige-colored braid material is around them. She has long, braided hair hanging from her body. A decorative, intricately designed piece of metal jewelry is attached to her tail.
Trivia[]
- Despite Jalla describe her as yak, Angrboda's companion looks more akin to a mixture of Highland Cattle and Aurochs.
