Ironwood, also known as The Forest of the Giants, is a region in Jötunheim in God of War Ragnarök. It is the home of Angrboda and Fenrir and was also where a younger Jörmungandr was born.

Map of Ironwood
When Atreus called out to the World Serpent for answers on his identity as Loki, Jörmungandr just gave him only one answer: Ironwood. When Atreus asked Sindri on what Ironwood means, the dwarf only grumbled that they should have stayed at home. However, what the two didn't know was that Ironwood is a region somewhere in Jötunheim, the home realm of the Jötnar.
When Kratos, Atreus, and Tyr discovered more details of Ragnarök in Gróa's shrine in Alfheim, Ironwood appears in the prophecy in which it is described by Tyr as a mythical sanctuary. Though it was stated by Mimir that some Jötnar had believed that it is in Jötunheim, Ironwood is not a real place but rather a concept and a metaphorical paradise. However, what Mimir didn't know is that it is a real place.
Later when Atreus drifted to sleep while clutching a marble, he was magically teleported to Jötunheim where he encountered Angrboda, one of the last few giants to have survived Thor's genocide. The two then traveled to Ironwood where Angrboda lives and preserves the giants' prophecies of the future. The latter also reveals that Ironwood is also a name to describe a special tree that can absorb memories of the forest, the past and the future. The bark of the Ironwood trees was also where Angrboda gets the paint she uses in preserving future prophecies.
Description[]
The Ironwood itself is the sanctuary of the wildlife. It is also safe haven of the few surviving giants.

Trivia[]
- The reason why Angrboda advised Atreus why he cannot tell anyone about Ironwood especially his close friends, and his father, is that Odin's not looking for it. Because if Atreus told his father while they were planning to move next in Sindri's House, though as knowing that it is not safe from either, notably the recent rescued Tyr, Odin will overhear about that Ironwood was real from Atreus. From here, there are several possibilities:
- Odin will probably find some way to shortcut or squeeze it out of him, either by taking a hostage and knowing Atreus he’d definitely give the info, or worst of all, he would be sending Thor to kill Angrboda and Gryla thus destroying the marbles,
- Other than taking advantage of Atreus' plan, he definitely would be sending Heimdall to Vanaheim to decimate the Vanir alliances and their leader Freyr, while also planning to murder Freya in Midgard.
- Possibly assassinate the Huldra Brothers.
- And lastly inviting Atreus to Asgard to complete the mask.
