Biography
  +
Hræzlyr is a male Dragon that lives in the Heart of the Mountain, the highest peak in Midgard and a former Jötnar residence.

  +
When Kratos and his son Atreus were travelling through the mountain's interior to reach the summit, Hræzlyr attacked them on their way up. After a brief fight, the Dragon retreated towards the exterior. There, he found the Dwarf Sindri and attacked the smith, but Atreus intervened and Kratos engaged in combat against the Dragon.
The creature is encountered by Kratos and Atreus while scaling the mountain in Midgard. Though unable to fly, Hræzlyr is a fierce creature with the capability to shoot lightning from its mouth.

  +
Their battle continued until Hræzlyr spotted and attempted to kill Atreus and Sindri, but Kratos used a nearby crane to restrain the Dragon and force his neck into a large spike of crystallized World Tree sap which exploded, destroying a large portion of the Dragon's neck and killing the monster.
Upon defeating it, Sindri asks Kratos to harvest one of his teeth in order to embue Atreus' bowstring with the dragon's electrical powers.

  +
After his death, one of Hræzlyr's teeth was used to imbue Atreus' bow with the Dragon's electrical power.

Hræzlyr made its home inside the mountain at an unspecified point in time, although Atreus speculates that the dragon arrived after the Giants fled Midgard.

As a Dragon, Hræzlyr possesses a large amount of strength, durability and stamina proportional to his large size. He has thick and tough scales covering his body, alongside large claws and teeth.

  +
Hræzlyr has the ability to spew lightning from his mouth, able to shoot it towards to the sky to make lightning rain around him.
While taking an elevator to the mountain's peak, Kratos and Atreus are ambushed by the dragon who releases a gout of lightning and electrical energy. After a brief fight, Hræzlyr blasts its way through some crystallized World Tree sap obstructing a passage out of the mountain.

  +
Dragons are also able to see Dwarves as they walk between realms, thus Hræzlyr was able to spot Sindri despite his attempts to escape from his sight.
Kratos and Atreus follow suit and encounter the creature yet again, although this time it is attempting to kill the dwarven smith Sindri. Atreus insists on helping Sindri, to which Kratos reluctantly agrees to do. Atreus provides a distraction and guides Sindri to safety while Kratos scales the dragon's body and attempts to strike its head with his axe, only to have his blow be deflected by Hræzlyr's thick armor. As Kratos jumps to the ground next to his son, Hræzlyr attempts to swallow them both. Atreus is pushed to safety while Kratos enters the beast's mouth, holding its jaws open. As the dragon maneuvers around the mountainous terrain, Kratos strikes the inside of Hræzlyr's mouth repeatedly, eventually forcing it to spit him out.

Kratos holds the creature's attention while Atreus and Sindri reach a vantage point, away from the fighting. Hræzlyr attempts to kill Kratos with its electric breath attacks, but Kratos uses nearby Shatter Crystals to injure the beast, causing them to explode as they mix with the electric energy surrounding the dragon. Eventually, the explosions blast away the armor on Hræzlyr's skull, exposing the flesh underneath. Kratos uses the opportunity to weaken the beast, enraging it.

Hræzlyr then notices Atreus and Sindri observing the fight and attempts to kill them both. Kratos sees a large Shatter Crystal and has an idea to defeat the dragon. Kratos orders his son to lower a nearby crane when given a signal. Kratos further weakens Hræzlyr and gives Atreus the order to lower the crane. Atreus fires an arrow and severs the rope holding the crane's head. Kratos lodges one end into the weak point on Hræzlyr's head and grabs the other, using it to pull the dragon closer to the giant crystal. Kratos stabs the crystal into the dragon's neck. Combining the crystal with the dragon' electric energy causes it to explode, destroying a large part of Hræzlyr's neck and killing the dragon.
