The masks emitted regal beauty, while still being creepy in nature. Due to her corruption, her skin is an unhealthy pale blue. But one of the most striking elements of the Valkyries came in the design of their wings. Like the other Valkyries Hildr had extremely large mechanical wings, Hildr's wings were blue, they are covered in golden metal plates as armor thus why they are mechanical in the first place. Like her sisters, her design showed her both skilled and refined. With each Valkyrie, hints of their past would be shown off in their armor sets – not looking completely polished and showcasing a long-and-tired past, such as in the torn feather designs on the helmets.

Hildr's battle can be seen as an opposite of Gondul's. Whilst her fiery sister is fought in a very accessible and rather supportive environment that compensates for an extremely deadly opponent, Hildr is a rather manageable foe who has the advantage of the most hazardous arena among all Valkyries. In fact, the biggest problem about Hildr is to keep enough health and Mist bar to actually finish the fight. As for the Valkyrie herself, Hildr is endowed with an average stagger resistance, but poor health/defense.

Hildr's moveset aren't exactly deadly; her signature ability is to use her cryomancy to rapidly shoot ice shards at Kratos which can be blocked. Omega (God of War 2018)

This article contains lore based on real-life sources from Norse Mythology as introduced from the God of War Norse Era.

Mistress of Battle. She and Odin got on quite well, actually. Her and the other Valkyries... not so much. She would spend most of her time here in Midgard, observing discord between the living, and stirring some up herself from time to time. She lived for conflict. Some say she WAS conflict, personified. I wonder what will become of her, now that she's free.

Mimir’s remarks about Hildr

Hildr is a Valkyrie introduced in God of War (2018). She is one of the nine Valkyries who have been cursed by Odin to remain in a corporal form, eventually driving them to insanity. As she became too dangerous, Hildr eventually found herself sealed away by the Valkyrie Queen in Niflheim. She is nevertheless freed by Kratos and Atreus after they engaged and defeated her physical form. Blessing them with her eternal gratitude, her spirit vanished and eventually reunited with her sisters.

Hildr returns in God of War: Ragnarök as a Shield Maiden, having regained a pure physical form thanks to Freya and her Vanir magic. Grateful for having been freed from Odin's curse and having acknowledged Kratos as her General, she actively participates together with her freed sisters to the final assault against Asgard during Ragnarök.

Norse Mythology

In Norse mythology, Hildr (Old Norse "battle") is a valkyrie. Hildr is attested in the Prose Edda as Högni's daughter and Hedin's wife in the Hjaðningavíg. She had the power to revive the dead in battlefields and used it to maintain the everlasting battle between Hedin and Högni.

Hildr is also mentioned along with other valkyries in VöluspáDarraðarljóð and other Old Norse poems. The Old Norse word hildr is a common noun meaning "battle" and it is not always clear when the poets had the valkyrie in mind, as a personification of battle.

Appearance

God of War (2018)

Like all Valkyries, Hildr's face is never shown and each Valkyrie would wear a very different type of helmet, the helmets would be themed together based upon a different creature. Hildr wears a golden helmet inspired by a Boar, these masks are extenuate in all different directions, from various color choices to metalwork designs.

God of War Ragnarök

After Freya resurrected Hildr and her sisters with Seidr magic, their skin returned to its original healthy color. Additionally, like all Shield Maidens, her original Valkyrie wings were replaced with more organic-looking birdlike wings.

Combat

Hildr's battle can be seen as an opposite of Gondul's. Whilst her fiery sister is fought in a very accessible and rather supportive environment that compensates for an extremely deadly opponent, Hildr is a rather manageable foe who has the advantage of the most hazardous arena among all Valkyries. In fact, the biggest problem about Hildr is to keep enough health and Mist bar to actually finish the fight. As for the Valkyrie herself, Hildr is endowed with an average stagger resistance, but poor health/defense.

It should be noted that dying against Hildr would mean the player have to restart from the maze's entrance, thus relying on trial and error would be unnecessarily stressful. Players should come to her determined and prepared, preferably equipped with at least 3 of 5 possible pieces of Nilfheim gear on the loadout. If players do not wish to risk losing much health on the way to her, they should try their best ignoring and evading enemies that spawn within the maze and keep taking the leftmost path of the maze until they find her prison.

Hildr's moveset aren't exactly deadly; her signature ability is to use her cryomancy to rapidly shoot ice shards at Kratos which can be blocked. She will conclude this attack by firing a huge chunk of icy spike that must be dodged. Hildr always distances herself from Kratos before using this move and there would be a very obvious wind-up for her ice powers.

Hildr can also use her Scythe to send an unblockable energy blast which also inflicts Freeze to Kratos on impact, and follows it up with a close-up Scythe slash that can be countered with the Guardian Shield.

She can occasionally take to the sky to do a Swooping grapple, which is her only possibly one-hit move in Give Me God Of War, but she unlikely follows it up with any attack

God of War Ragnarok

Hildr is among the Valkyries who were resurrected by Freya and one of those who were seen attacking Asgard during Ragnarok.
