Greek Mythology

In Greek Mythology, Hera is the goddess of marriage, protector of women, and the Queen of Mount Olympus. She is the wife of Zeus, and also one of the original six Olympian siblings. This also makes her the sister of Zeus as well, along with being the sister of Poseidon, Demeter, Hestia, and Hades. Her Roman equivalent was Juno.

In the God of War series

God of War

Hera, the wife of Zeus, is mentioned in the first God of War as a part of puzzle, where the player has to locate the "Necklace of Hera".

God of War: Betrayal

Hera herself is not in the game, but her beast and favorite pet, the giant Argos, appears in the game to stop Kratos. After it is killed by unknown assassin, Kratos is blamed by the Gods for its murder, at the same time being stopped from uncovering the truth.

God of War III

Kratos meets Hera well into his conquest. She despises Kratos for what he is doing and also expresses her hatred for her husband, Zeus, for having another "bastard child". She sends out Hercules to kill Kratos and watches as the do battle, laughing while she does so. Kratos finds her again in her garden, weakened by the plagues that are killing her plants. In order for Kratos to extinguish the The Flame of Olympus he must pass and find his way through Hera's Garden marble-walled garden prison. She goads Kratos by calling Pandora "the little whore", which angers Kratos and he snaps her neck, killing her instantly. With her death the green life in the whole world dies and Kratos takes Hera's Chalice to find his way out, using her corpse to weigh down a pressure plate.
