Helka is Lunda's pet and is the faithful companion of Freyr and his allies. She makes her debut in God of War: Ragnarok

Appearance[]

Helka is a large (Pug-like or some sort of Mastiff-looking) dog somewhat resembling a swine due to severe inbreeding. She is primarily covered in wrinkles with a long but stubby tail. In terms of her eyes we never actually see them open. This is either because of her wrinkles or her constant tiredness throughout any scenes she's present for.

Helka has rope rapped around parts of her neck and lower body, on this rope we can see sphere-like objects hanging from it. Another notable feature would be Lúnda's tools resting on both sides of Helka fashioned by the rope in their own brown tool pouch.

Biography[]

According to Birgir, Helka was found half-dead in the jungles of Vanaheim by Freyr, and she had presumably escaped from a Bloð Hundr breeding farm that is not far from Freyr's Camp. Though Birgir and his fellow allies tried to convince Freyr that Helka is beyond saving, the Vanir God never gave up on her. While under his care, Helka successfully recovered and became their companion ever since. Despite the fact she belongs to the group as a whole, Helka is primarily seen as Lúnda's pet. Helka seems to have become a dog of the gods.

Kratos had this to say in the codex: "Helka is a hound of unusual girth who is kept by the allies of Freyr's Camp. Her tracking skills are impressive. If Birgir survives to return home from his fall into the jungle, he will have the dog to thank for his life."
