"And from that point forward, throughout the rest of time, whenever men rode forth to battle for good cause or for evil, they did so under the watchful eye of the man who had defeated a god. They were driven forward by Kratos, the mortal who had become the new, God of War..." - Gaia

ARES (2)

Ares, the first God of War.

The God of War is the title held by a strong warrior worthy and possessing great power.

The title was held first by Athena (a goddess of war) and Ares (who was overthrown by Kratos, and killed by him. later kratos become a god himself). After Kratos was killed by Zeus, there was no one else to take the title of God of War.

The abilities or powers of the God of War are the same as any other of the powerful gods' powers, however they are more brutal and violent in nature.

The ability to set massive armies on fire, giving them the protective abilities of the fire, and destroy entire cities with a whim are just some of these abilities as well as immortality and invincibility, flight, pyrokenisis, telepathy, telekinesis, senses, Immunity, illusion casting, teleportation, regeneration, super strength, agility, stamina, speed, launching fireballs, granting powers, shapeshifting, conjuration of powerful magical weapons, magic and energy projection are few of the abilities displayed. The power to appear as large as a Titan is also another power demonstrated by both Gods of War. Zeus also showed this power meaning it is not just limited to the God of War.
