Frost Phantom

Frost Phantoms are an ice variant of the Phantom as well as its Flame counterpart. It sports a glowing purple rune that acts as its weak spot.

Etymology[]

While the Frost Phantom is an original God of War Ragnarök enemy and doesn't exist in any folklore and mythology, the word Phantom is another word to describe a Ghost.

Appearance[]

The bodies of Frost Phantoms appeared to be made of chunks of ice and it sports a purple runic core for a head.

God of War Ragnarök[]

A Frost Phantom can be encountered in chapter 9 of the main storyline. In Midgard, when Kratos reaches the area where it will come, several runic springs will appear while the Frost Phantom slithered along the snowy ground before moving in to engage in combat. As it is immune to attacks, its rune has to be given enough hits in order to force the Frost Phantom into retreating. Once this happens, several rune springs will appear and there is a limited time where they had to be destroyed one-by-one in order to inflict damage on the Frost Phantom until it resurfaces. This has to be repeated until all of its health is depleted. Once this is accomplished, this will stun it enough for Kratos to kill it with his bare hands.

Another frost phantom can be found northwest of Alfheim in the eastern side of The Forbidden Sands where it can be fought as an optional boss. If the area is reached, then the Frost Phantom will appear, thus starting the boss fight.
