Kratos' Cabin is a key location within God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. It is the home of Kratos, Laufey, and their son, Atreus as well Mimir, Fenrir and Speki & Svanna.

God of War (2018)[]

This cabin was likely built by both Faye and Kratos after they met and it became their home along with their son Atreus. Unaware to Kratos, their home along with the forest surrounding it was protected by a magical grove of trees, he mistakenly took them for marked trees she wished to be used for her cremation, and once these trees were cut down, their home became visible to the Aesir gods. Not long after the marked trees were cut down, a stranger appeared to their house, calling them out to confront him. The fight that occurs marks the cabin as no longer safe. Kratos and his son were forced to abandon their home to complete the journey of spreading Faye's ashes to the highest peak in all the realms. Kratos returned to his home to retrieve a weapon he had once promised to never again use, to save the life of his child. Once their journey was complete they returned home, and took a much-deserved rest with Mimir. However, Atreus had dreamed that Thor would come and visit their home to get vengeance for the deaths of his brother and his sons, Magni and Modi.

God of War Ragnarök[]

Kratos and Atreus continue to live in the cabin with Mímir, with the protection stave having been rebuilt to keep their home safe throughout Fimbülwinter and from Freya's attacks. The house had also been victim to several attacks from Raiders deceived by Freya to enact her revenge following Baldur's death. They also adopted the wolves Fenrir, Speki, and Svanna, and expanded the land to house these wolves in their own kennels.

After narrowly escaping an attack from Freya, Fenrir dies from old age and is buried beside the shelters of Speki and Svanna. While resting, the house is visited by Odin and Thor, just like it had been in Atreus' dream. Odin attempted to broker peace with Kratos, but warned Atreus to stop his search for Týr. When Kratos refuses, Thor attacks Kratos, sending him through the roof and damaging the home yet again, while Odin talked with Atreus in an attempt to recruit him under his wing. Odin also offered to pay for his repairs by giving him an Aesir coin, which Kratos discarded. With their house compromised and their protection stave destroyed again, the three occupants decide to stay in Sindri's home in the Realm between realms.

After his excursion to Jötunheim, Atreus returns to his home in Midgard which is now infested with Hel-walkers. Kratos arrives and chastises his son for being gone for days, but the father and son duo decide to clear the premises of Hel-walkers. They briefly battle with Freya in her Valkyrie form before she has a change of heart and decides to spare him. Brok and Sindri arrive to bring Atreus back to their home while Brok accompanies Freya and Kratos to Vanaheim to destroy the spell binding Freya to Midgard.

After he accidentally set Garm free, a guilt-ridden Atreus decides to leave Asgard and return home, and he is sent back to the cabin where he greets his wolves and visits Fenrir's grave before returning to Sindri's house to find the group battling Hel-walkers after a rift caused by Garm had opened up nearby until Atreus stopped Garm by transferring Fenrir's soul into the soulless beast.

Following the destruction of Asgard and the death of Odin, Kratos and Atreus part ways, with Atreus, to his father's proud approval, going on his own journey to find the rest of the Jötunn while Kratos, Freya, and Mímir travel the realms to finish the work that needs to be done. Kratos can go home to the cabin, where bonfires have been recently lit as Atreus had recently arrived there. He had left behind his journal for his father to collect.
