Mythology

The Efreet (afreet, afrit, or afrite, Arabic (male) ʿifrīt, or (female) ʿifrītah) was a demonic fire spirit from Arabian mythology. It was classified as being an evil type of Djinn or Genie, from a class of infernal jinn (spirits below the level of angels and devils) noted for their strength and cunning. Furthermore, mythology depicted an ifrit as an enormous winged creature of smoke, either male or female, who lives underground and frequents ruins. Ifrits live in a society structured along ancient Arab tribal lines, complete with kings, tribes, and clans.

In God of War: Chains of Olympus

In God of War: Chains of Olympus, the Persian King apparently has the ability to summon the Efreet. Kratos however then gains the power after defeating the king at Attica. When used, it unleashes the fire spirit which attacks all surrounding enemies. It can also be leveled up, to increase the damage it does, and to receive new abilities.
