Fallen ash from Surtr's eternal fire, found in Muspelheim. Can be used to craft and upgrade various equipment.

–In game description

Divine Ashes are a vital upgrade resource in God of War Ragnarök. They are an extremely useful upgrade material to sharpen your god-killing armory.

Information[]

Unfortunately, you won't be able to plunder these materials from Midgard. In order to obtain them you'll need to journey to Muspelheim, the ash-covered land of the fire giants. A series of combat challenges called the Crucible will offer you divine ashes as well as a whole host of other rewards, including hacksilver and powerful gear with special abilities.

How to obtain[]

Divine ashes can be found in the realm of Muspelheim in God of War Ragnarok. To obtain them, you'll need to endure a series of combat trials which will net you divine ashes, as well as a bounty of hacksilver and the Undying Pyres set. Once you've entered Muspelheim, you'll find your first trial in a cave to your left. Clamber up the first ledge and keep running straight ahead until you enter a cavern, pass through a ruined archway, and emerge to find a giant sword shoved into the ground. Interacting with this sword will give you access to the first trial, Weapon Mastery. Succeed in this trial and you'll be rewarded with 250 divine ashes, 1,000 hacksilver, and the Shoulder Guard of the Undying Pyres, which gives you a one-hit barrier whenever you max out your Permafrost, Immolation, or Maelstrom gauges. Brawl your way through more of Muspelheim's challenges to receive more divine ashes, hacksilver, armor pieces, and other rare materials

To access Muspelheim via realm travel, you'll first need to obtain the Muspelheim seed. This seed is split into two halves, both found in Svartalfheim, which you'll need to hunt down during your realm-spanning adventure. While visiting Svartalfheim, your trusty head Mimir should eventually give you a favour to destroy several mining rigs. Go to Modvitnir's rig and open the legendary chest there to find the first half of the Muspelheim seed. The second half requires the Draupnir Spear to access it, which you'll unlock during the main story. In Svartalfheim, accept and begin the Spirit of Rebellion favour. During this side mission, you should see a large dwarf statue where you'll want to turn left. You'll find a debris-covered chest (as well as a family of ogres), which is where you can loot the second half of the seed to Muspelheim.
