The General drinks the poison and dies, filling Circe with anger and hate, and at the same time, leaving her with no choice but spare the lives of the Champion's men, or else, she would break her oath to the champion sworn right before. Before leaving, she taunts the Champion, saying that her revenge over him can wait, as watching him being tortured at the [[Hecatonchires]] by breaking an oath, will satisfy her at the moment.

Circe

Circe in Chapther 7 of Rise of the Warrior

Circe is a major character in the Rise of the Warrior comic webseries.

In Greek Mythology

In Greek mythology, Circe is a minor goddess of magic (or sometimes a nymph, witch, enchantress or sorceress). Having murdered her husband, the prince of Colchis, she was expelled by her subjects and placed by her father on the solitary island of Aeaea. Later traditions tell of her leaving or even destroying the island and moving to Italy. In particular she was identified with Cape Circeo there.

By most accounts, Circe was the daughter of Helios, the god of the sun, and Perse, an Oceanid. Her brothers were Aeetes, the keeper of the Golden Fleece and Perses, and her sister was Pasiphaë, the wife of King Minos and mother of the Minotaur. Other accounts make her the daughter of Hecate.

Circe was renowned for her vast knowledge of drugs and herbs. Through the use of magical potions and a wand, she transformed her enemies, or those who offended her, into animals.

Rise of the Warrior

During his journey to have revenge over the General, who destroyed the water wheel of Kirra, and poisoned its water with the content of the Circe's Vial, the Champion, protagonist of this history, that had his father killed by the General, travels along with his men, and Orkos, to find Circe in her island, Aeaea, and asks her help to find the Amulet of Uroborus and the Oracle of Delphi, in an attempt to find a way to kill the General, that, unbeknownst to the Champion, is. Even helping them in their mission and providing food and weaponary, she is often seen as a trecherous entity by the tripulation, not worthy of any trust. During their journey, Circe gives the Champion her vial, which he fills up with Cerberus' blood, and extremably poisoning liquid.

In the end, is revealed that she actually helped the General in his actions, and is his lover. The duo then set a dilemma for the Champion: Kill the General, and break his oath to his father (Of not killing anyone of his family, which the Champion accepted, not knowing that the General is his uncle), kill Circe, and breaking his another oath (He sworn to protect Circe's life at the cost of the life of his men), or join his uncle and keep both oaths, but not giving him the revenge he wants. Divided, the Champion deceives the lovers, saying that will join the General, while carefully, drops the Cerberus' blood in one of the chalices that is on the table of the General's home, and offers it to his uncle to celebrate their deal, but not before the Champion makes Circe swear she won't harm his men, as a part of the agreement.

The General drinks the poison and dies, filling Circe with anger and hate, and at the same time, leaving her with no choice but spare the lives of the Champion's men, or else, she would break her oath to the champion sworn right before. Before leaving, she taunts the Champion, saying that her revenge over him can wait, as watching him being tortured at the Hecatonchires by breaking an oath, will satisfy her at the very moment.

Trivia

  • In the Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus spends seven years in Circe's island as a castaway, and much to the latter amusement, because she loved the warrior. Watching Odysseus growing sadder and desolate with time, as he missed his homeland and family more than anything else, the gods demanded Circe to give a boat, supplies, and to free the castaway from her island, something that a weeping and heartbroken Circe did.
  • The Mercenary Sword of the God of War: Ascension Multiplayer is said to be lit from Circe's flame.
