In Greek mythology, Ceto is a primordial goddess of the sea, daughter of Pontus and Gaia. She was notable for having been the wife of Phorcys, also the son of Pontus and Gaia, and spawning a host of beastly children.

Like many of her kin, Ceto fought in the war against the Primordials along with her parents and relatives.
Ceto appears in the opening scene where is she shown engaging in a fight against Ouranos[1]. She manages to hit Ouranos in the face, causing the creation of skies and stars. Eventually, the fights between the two primordials ends with the destruction of Ceto, who falls on the ground and disintegrates in a giant mass of water, causing the oceans to appear.
Powers & Abilities
- Immortality: As a Primordial, Ceto is immortal, but only a divine or powerful weapon can kill her.
- Superhuman Strength: Being a Primordial, Ceto is very strong, enough to break and hurt Ouranos, The Ruler of the Universe and Heavens, quite a bit.
- Hydrokinesis: Being the Primordial goddess of the seas, it would be assumed that she has control over the Sea, and when she died she created the seas.
