God of War Wiki

The Burning Cliffs are a region of Muspelheim introduced in God of War Ragnarök.

The Burning Cliffs is the first part of Muspelheim that you visit. As discovered early into the first venture here, this is actually the location of Surtr's Challenges from the 2018 game, a series of arenas Kratos had to fight through on his way up to the top of the volcano containing Tyr's Temple. However, it's actually impossible to grab any of the collectibles during your first visit; you'll have to wait until later in the game to be able to collect them.

Events of God of War Ragnarök[]

The Runaway[]

Atreus is sent to search Muspelheim with Thor by Odin after he disobeys and escapes Kratos. It is here that a missing piece of the Mask of Creation is thought to be.

While searching, Atreus spots a path to Surtr's Forge in the distance. After persuading Thor to take a go at Surtr's trials and getting him distracted, Atreus locates Surtr's and Sinmara's shrine and meets Angrboda again.

The Summoning[]

The single Legendary Chest in Muspelheim is found early when you're able to visit this part of the map as Kratos. From the Mystic Gateway, drop down the ledges and veer right. The chest will be ahead in the small cave, where you may be attacked by Wisps. The chest contains 1,000 Divine Ashes, which are used to upgrade equipment to among the highest levels.

Burning Cliffs - Odin's Raven 1[]

The single Raven of Odin in Muspelheim is found at the same location as the Legendary Chest described above. Look through the "window" on the right-hand side of the room to find it.
