The death of the Huldra Brother Brok is a major pivotal event in God of War Ragnarök. After Kratos had obtained Gjallarhorn from the Aesir god Heimdall and Atreus had stolen the Mask of Creation from Odin, Tyr, who had appeared to have become a cowardly pacifist ever since centuries-long imprisonment in Svartalfheim, suddenly had a changed of heart and revealed of a secret way into Asgard and even called Atreus by his birth name 'Loki', something that Brok became suspicious of.
As he confronted Tyr over this, he was mortally stabbed in the stomach by Tyr in a fit of rage before the latter reveals himself to actually be a disguised Odin, who then attempted to escape with the Mask of Creation but was thwarted by Kratos. Despite Freya's attempt to heal his wound, Brok dies in the arms of his brother Sindri.
Brok's death served as the catalyst for the beginning of Ragnarök, which would lead to Odin's downfall, as Sindri and Brok's friends and allies were driven by his death to instigate and set the very apocalyptic war into motion instead of preventing it, which ultimately resulted in Asgard's destruction and Odin's death. Thus, the death of Brok had indirectly led to the end of the Aesir Gods' centuries-long reign over the Nine Realms.
