How to Start Born from Fire[]
This sidequest requires you to first defeat one of The Hateful. The first you can find is in Svartalfheim behind The Watchtower, a hidden location near Bay of Bounty's Mystic Gateway and Sindri's workstation. Upon defeating The Hateful, the questline kicks off.
Svartalfheim - The Watchtower[]
To Sindri's right, you'll see an explosive vase on a pile of golden rocks. You know what to do — throw your weapon and watch it explode. Climb the wall to find a hidden region called The Watchtower. On the right is a locked door. The key is on the island near the geyser, Mimir says. This is important to Mimir. Add it to the list of your things to do. Walk up the stairs on the left to encounter a mini-boss called “The Hateful.” If you don't already have full health and rage, visit the Mystic Gateway to replenish them for this fight.
Tips for beating The Hateful in Svartalfheim[]
- Start the fight with a charged Leviathan Axe throw or swing. You'll need to be quick. Do this as soon as it starts climbing out of the ground for some early damage.
- Lure The Hateful to the lower platform. It's fast, so it'll follow quickly. This is to isolate it from the two Draugr that crawl out of the hole after it. Do what damage you can in your solo duel with The Hateful for as long as it lasts. Try your best to get used to parrying if you aren't used to it already.
- Once its friends are near the stairs, use Spartan Rage to destroy them quickly. The faster they're out of the fight, the better. If you didn't start the fight with Spartan Rage and fail, return to the Mystic Gateway to refill it and gain full health.
- If Kratos' burn meter is completely filled, Kratos will take significant damage over time on the higher difficulties. Do your best to dodge The Hateful's red ring attacks to avoid this building up.
- Use Atreus’ arrows whenever they're off cooldown as much as you can to build up The Hateful's stun meter. The open area around The Watchtower and The Hateful's speed makes it more of a challenge to get The Hateful up against a wall to build the stun meter without Atreus' arrows.
- The Hateful has a few points where it'll look down at the ground to charge up an attack. If you're far enough away from its red ring fire dash attack, you can use this as an opportunity to charge the Leviathan Axe and hit it after it's stopped moving.
Be sure to collect your rewards for defeating the creature in the ash mound where it came from. With The Hateful out of the way, you can collect the goods from the red coffin (Slag Deposits, Hacksilver) and destroy the Odin Raven flying in a loop around this area.
