The Boreas' Icestorm is a gem that contains the icy breath of the North Wind, which Kratos acquired after killing Skorpius; he then used it to active the Labyrinth and its mechanics.

The Boreas' Icestorm appears to be the complete opposite of the Liquid Fire and the only thing that can react with it. The combination of the Icestorm's cold and the Liquid Fire's heat, is what drives the mechanisms of the Labyrinth.
