Bitter Squirrel is an aspect of Ratatoskr's personality, projected into spectral form, which Atreus can summon for help in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök.
Description[]
Atreus can call upon Bitter Squirrel by holding 
. When summoned, Bitterness will scurry over to Kratos' position and dig up a Healthstone or a Ragestone. Bitter Squirrel will berate, insult and hurl obscenities at the father and son every time. Upgrades increase the number of consumables found.
Acquisition[]
God of War (2018)[]
Bitter Squirrel can be obtained by opening a Legendary Chest, found at the very top of the Light Elf Outpost, in Midgard. If Atreus has Light Arrows equipped, Bitterness will unearth Healthstones; Ragestones, if Shock arrows are equipped.

God of War Ragnarök[]
Bitter Squirrel returns in God of War Ragnarök and can be retrieved from a Legendary Chest found in the Frozen Caverns, in Niflheim. Atreus will come across this chest during his second mission with Thor. Unlike the previous game, however, the consumables Bitterness unearths don't depend the element of Atreus' equipped arrows, and are instead randomised.
