Why waste a life worshiping those who were created by another? I honor Búri, first among the Gods and he from whom the Aesir sprang. I've left him a tribute on the island that honors him.

–Creation island tribute

Búri was the God of Creation and the first Aesir God. He is the son of Ymir and Auðumbla, and he was the founder of the Aesir Royal Family, being father of Borr, and grandfather of Odin, Vili and .

Norse Mythology[]

Búri was created by Auðumbla, the Primordial Cow who nourished Ymir, by licking him free of the ice from Niflheim. Búri would go on to marry a frost giantess who would give birth to his son, Borr.

God of War (2018)[]

Little is known about Búri in the God of War universe. There was at least one human in Midgard who believed that worshiping those who were created by another was a waste of a life. To this end, he left tribute for Búri on one of the islands on the Shores of Nine, Búri's Storeroom. Kratos can acquire this treasure after finding the map for it in Iron Cove.

Powers and Abilities[]

Immortality: As a Norse God, Búri is immortal. Only a sufficiently powerful weapon or an extremely powerful being can kill him.

Trivia[]

  • In Norse Mythology, Búri was created by Auðumbla licking him free of the glacier he was trapped in. However, in the God of War universe, Mimir states that Ymir and Auðumbla created the Aesir, thus making Búri the son of Ymir and Auðumbla.
