Asphodel

Kratos standing at the edge of Asphodel.

Kratos found himself on the very edge of Hades. The land where no mortal had set foot.

Gaia

Greek Mythology

In Greek mythology, Asphodel is the "neutral" region of the Underworld. Also sometimes known as the Asphodel Meadows, it is between the Elysium Fields, and the depths of Tartarus. It is where the souls of those who were neither good or evil spent eternity.

In God of War: Chains of Olympus

In God of War: Chains of Olympus, Kratos falls into Asphodel after releasing the Fire Steeds. It is depicted as a barren land, with rivers of blood, and various ruined structures. He travels through Asphodel, traversing its ruins, until coming to the River Styx, where he encounters Charon. It is strange that no souls can be seen here, as this is the resting place of "neutral" souls.
