Known as "The Stream of Anguish", the broken sword hilt of Frithiof is said to burn brightest in war time

–In-game description

Angrvaðall or the Hilt of Angrvaðall, is a sword that was wielded by Frithiof and is one of many Relics Kratos can acquire during his journey through the Nine Realms. A page to craft it can be recovered from within the Gravel Belly in Alfheim.

Norse Mythology[]

Angrvaðall, known as "Stream of Anguish", is a magical sword that was wielded by Viking, the son of Vífil and Emyrja and the father of Thorsten and Thorer. It was later wielded by Frithiof, the titular protagonist of the saga of the same name. Angrvaðall's blade is inscribed with runic letters that would blaze in times of war but gleam with a dim light in times of peace.

Information[]

The "Hilt of Angrvaðall" is described as a relic that allows Kratos to unleash a powerful forward slash attack, emitting three waves of light, which deals significantly increased damage against enemies affected by sonic attacks. Upgrades reduce this ability's cooldown, it's base stat is 142s Cooldown.

How to obtain: Alfheim Relic 1 - Hilt of Angrvaðall[]

One of four relic hilts tied to the Crafting Labor known as The Lost Pages, this Relic is found as a lore blueprint instead of being able to find the relic itself. After completing Chapter 4 - Gróa's Secret, you can then explore the large area to the north known as The Barrens. Here you will find an Elf building in the North of The Barrens, and just East of the large Elf gate. The building will be occupied by two Dark Elves and a Dark Elf Lord.

Once they’re defeated, check outside the South-West area of the building: the Lore Scroll will be there, next to a Legendary Chest. You'll now be able to craft this relic when speaking to the Dwarven brothers at the Shop, but will need a unique resource to make it: Skírnir's Gambanteinn.

This item can only be found by undertaking a series of side quests later in The Forbidden Sands to the east, which you can attempt after chapter nine when you can unlock rune slates. You'll need to quell this new sandstorm by undertaking the side quest, Song of the Sands, which will in turn unlock another favor in the east, Freyr's Gift. Completing this side quest will reveal objects to loot in the different small blue circles of sands in this area, including two halves of a key needed to unlock one last side quest, The Desert Door.
