The Mayan gods are very interesting just saying... (alot of cool gods with cool powers and weapons)
Yeah I would love to see Mayan gods as they are quite untouched upon in history in comparison to others.
I would especially love to see Hindu gods and mythology in the GOW universe just by how interesting and vast the number of deities are and the abilities and strengths. Some of the lesser gods in that mythology would be stronger than Zeus making it a great challenge for Kratos and Atreus
Why can’t you do Japan and Egypt
I said aside from Japan or Egypt because everyone including me want it but no one talks about other countries and their mythology
I went with Latin American mythology there’s plenty of warrior gods for kratos to take on in that pantheon of gods
Yeah it would be a good setting. The Indian pantheon would probably be too op for Kratos. Would like to see Quetzalcoatl face off with Atreus and him
The Hindu gods would cause too much controversy, as could the Aztec/Mayan deities.
For the Latin American gods, there would also be the problem of getting Kratos across the ocean and a reason for him going to a land no one knows exists.
For the Hindu, I just see Sony censoring it so much. Same with anything touching on the Abrahamic religions.
The Roman gods are pretty awesome, but as you said are basically the Greek gods and I think in GOW they are one and the same (Hercules uses his Roman name, for example).
They could maybe use the ones who survived from 3 in a plot (Venus, Diana, Apollo, Janus...but they're not really that compelling for a game trilogy. Maybe if it was done as a prequel to GOW (2018).
The Celtic gods are not as well known, but I feel like the setting would be nice...maybe too similar to the Norse world, though with fairies instead of elves. I'd still choose them.
If it were up to me, I'd set it among the Zoroastrian religion with the dual dark/light aspects of Ahriman and Ahuramazda. They could also use the Babylonian gods.
Honestly, I don't think we'll see Kratos past this trilogy, and that's sad. But maybe we will get a new character that is unrelated.
Why are Aztecs and Mayans controversial out of curiousity? I thought they aren’t practiced in this day and age
Though I’m not so well in versed with Celtic Mythology and if they have a lot of gods like the other pantheons I would be interested in seeing them
The only reason I considered Rome was because of a couple of ideas that struck in my head:
-a parallel universe kinda thing where Kratos sees things repeating itself. Maybe even Deimos is the one to destroy the gods in a flipped situation.
-The Roman gods although a near complete copy may be a completely different pantheon that heard about or witnessed the events of the orginal games and the Norse world and decided to preemptively strike Kratos rather than waiting his possible arrival to their lands as a story idea
-Like you mentioned, the surviving gods go to Rome and find means to resurrect the pantheon under new names and Kratos or Atreus (learning about them through stories of Kratos’ past) goes out to take them down once and for all
I also think Kratos will die in the next game or if it’s a series then at the end of the Norse arc, and we see Atreus take up the mantle or look like and become a reincarnation of Kratos maybe after some events if that makes sense?
The Christian pantheon lmao
What do you think?
